Prabowo: Acehnese Never Give Up
Jurnal Update. Presidential candidate number 02, Prabowo Subianto attended the commemoration of the Aceh tsunami disaster on Wednesday.
Before attending the event, Prabowo also made a pilgrimage to the mass burial of victims of the Aceh tsunami and recited prayers for the victims and families of the victims of the disaster that occurred on December 26, 2004.
Arrived at around 10:05 WIB, Prabowo was immediately greeted by hundreds of residents who were waiting for him. Prabowo also recited the holy verses of the Qur'an right in front of the mass burial of tsunami victims led by clerics and local leaders,
Aside from making a pilgrimage, the General Chair of the Gerindra Party also attended a tsunami warning event at the Tsunami Monument, Lampulo, Banda Aceh City. As an invited guest, Prabowo was also given the opportunity to give a speech.
Prabowo prayed for the tsunami victims. "Hopefully the victims will be accepted by Allah, and hopefully the families left behind will continue to be encouraged, continuing to be given the determination to carry out the tasks in the present and the future," Prabowo said at the event.
The former Kopassus General Commander reminded, history records the determination of the Acehnese in fighting against the invaders. For this reason, he is sure that under any circumstances the Acehnese will always be able to rise.
"That the Acehnese people have never surrendered since the colonial era," he said.
Prabowo assesses that so far the Acehnese people have a spirit of glory, as in its history that once owned a respected marine fleet in the world. Even though he was hit by a devastating tsunami, in his opinion, Aceh will still return in its prime as it once was.
"I pray and hope that Aceh will return and continue to prosper," he hoped.
In addition, Prabowo also said that he was now friends with the former Commander of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) Muzakir Manaf. When leading Kopassus and becoming Pangkostrad, Prabowo strongly targeted Muzakir Manaf as a demand for his profession to guard the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). Conversely, he said, Muzakir Manaf wanted to shoot and even kidnap Prabowo to be killed.
"No one imagines how the GAM Commander and the Kostrad Commander can become one, I also don't understand. I always told stories, I was confused because he used to chase me and he always chased me. Once we meet, each other's hugs are finished, "said Prabowo.
According to him, Muzakir Manaf, known to the Acehnese as Mualem, is now a close friend. Even when Mualem wanted to join Gerindra, Prabowo had refused because he later became his subordinate in the party.
"Then he said he wanted to join me and Gerindra. I say you are Mualem, if you go to Gerindra I will be my subordinate, I don't want to, you must be my friend. Finally because he is with a strong determination continuously, I thank him for coming in and God willing, we will continue together for a just and prosperous Indonesia, "he explained.
However, continued Prabowo, behind his historical story with this former GAM Commander, there is a very valuable lesson related to friendship.
