Prabowo-Sandi Coalition Monitors Case Handling of Shooting in Papua

Lensa Aktual. The National Winning Body (BPN) Prabowo-Sandi asked the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) to play an active role in monitoring cases of civilian shootings by armed criminal groups in Nduga, Papua, in early December.

Dasco said that based on Article 1 number 6 of Law Number 39 of 1999 the case could be categorized as a serious human rights violation because the victims were civil society and officials. The culprit is a group of people who are structured and have weapons.

"The National Human Rights Commission must be proactive in monitoring civilian shooting cases by the KKB (armed criminal group) in Nduga Papua last December 3," said spokesman for the BPN Advocacy Directorate Prabowo-Sandi, Sufmi Dasco in a written statement on Monday. Although the National Human Rights Commission said it had formed a Fact Finding Team, he said, until now it was unclear what was done by the fact-finding team.

"The most important thing is that there is no clear statement from the National Human Rights Commission that the Nduga case is a serious human rights violation," said a member of the House of Representatives Commission III from the Gerindra faction.
The Nd case had happened for almost a month. BPN Prabowo-Sandi hopes that the National Human Rights Commission can move quickly to monitor and ensure that law enforcement can truly work.

According to him, the shooter is a human rights violator who must be arrested to account for his actions.
"Komnas HAM must prove that in terms of human rights enforcement they are indiscriminate and not selective, whoever violates human rights must be dealt with firmly," he said.
